Whether ICFAI is Fraud??

ICFAI University defends 'illegal' charges in Supreme Court

New Delhi, March 22: Defending allegations of being an "illegal" institute and "cheating" students, ICFAI University has submitted before the Supreme Court that it was an institute established by the state of Uttrakhand and supported by ICFAI Society, Hyderabad.

A former BBA student of ICFAI, Rishabh Jain, has dragged the University to the apex court, seeking closure of all "unrecognised" constituent colleges of ICFAI University.

Jain termed the colleges were "illegal and were cheating more than 20,000 students", who opted to study at its 43 institutes all over the country, as ICFAI is not "recognised" by UGC, AICTE or Distance Education Council.

Jain in his petition to the Supreme Court said ICFAI was giving "misleading" advertisements and claimed the university had only recognition from Tripura and Uttarakhand for running only a few certificate courses but had been running around 43 institutes all over the country and more than 20,000 students were registered with it.

In defence, ICFAI said its university at Dehradun had no study centre, constituent colleges, off-campus centres outside the state and its prospectus had categorical declaration to this effect.

According to the University, it is the Hyderabad-based ICFAI Society which has set up 156 ICFAI National Colleges (INC) across the country including the one in Bangalore where Jain had taken admission.
