“No AICTE approval for ICFAI courses”

“No AICTE approval for ICFAI courses”

Chennai: The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has not approved any of the courses conducted either by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) Society or those offered by the ICFAI University, Dehra Dun.

The AICTE has made this submission in its counter to a writ petition filed in the Madras High Court by B.N. Devadas of K.K.Nagar West. He sought a direction to the authorities to close down the 22 ICFAI National Colleges, the institute’s business school conducting full-time academic programs, and the ICFAI Study Centre for 360 flexible-learning programmes, and to stop the university granting degrees all over Tamil Nadu.

AICTE Regional Officer Sandeep Singhal said the council, empowered to regulate technical education system all over the country, had initiated action against unapproved institutions offering technical education.

It had issued show-cause notices to institutions whenever it had information that they were offering unapproved courses. It had also asked the State governments to close down these institutions.
